Biography

Legacy Residential Group is one of Florida's largest family-owned and managed real estate companies, with over 7,000 apartment units and extensive agricultural and commercial holdings. This network of businesses complements their goal of providing and improving affordable luxury housing to meet the needs of South Florida's growing population. Tom Cabrerizo founded the privately held organization to manage and operate his expanding portfolio of rental communities acquired throughout the 80s and 90s. As the Founder and CEO, Tom is primarily responsible for the general direction of the firm's investment strategy and day-to-day operation.

Tom Cabrerizo began his entrepreneurial journey as a teenager in the clothing business.  Over the next twenty-five years, he assembled a vertically integrated manufacturing company, Trends International. The company established its knitting, spinning, screen printing, and embroidery facilities in the US and overseas. With these capabilities, Trends became one of Target’s largest, US-based manufacturers, supplying over 30 million garments annually. Trends also supplied department and specialty stores under its other brands, Ocean Pacific, Bum Equipment, Lei, Jimmy Z, and Ecko.

After many years, Tom was able to apply the same fundamentals to his real estate portfolio with the creation of Paramount Depot and Plant Life Farms in 2005. Both companies are now thriving as the wholesale sources of building and landscape products for many institutional and private multifamily developers throughout the Southeastern United States.

Over the last three decades, Legacy has been active across multiple real estate markets, ranging from distressed multifamily and condominium assets to retail shopping centers, industrial, commercial retail, and single-family homes. Today, the firm mainly focuses on multifamily residential development and expanding its Lineage Builders homebuilding business. Legacy owns and operates over 35 rental communities with over 300 employees throughout South Florida. The group has acquired more than three billion dollars in real estate over the past thirty-five years.

Through their companies, as well as Cabrerizo Family Foundation, Tom and his wife, Vivian,  have actively supported numerous charities and philanthropic causes such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Susan G. Komen, The Woody Foundation, Baptist Hospital, Mount Sinai, HSS Hospital, Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Sebastian Strong, Guitars over Guns, Samaritans Purse, Christo Ret High School, Lotus House for Women and Toys for Tots.

In his spare time, Tom enjoys traveling with his family, fishing in the Bahamas, and exotic cars.
